Software Test Analyst

Who do we need?

An enthusiastic software test analyst, capable working closely with the software development and delivery team. You will need excellent communication skills and have the desire and self-motivation to analyse requirements, find defects and ensure delivery of quality systems.

We would also welcome any candidates with experience/knowledge of Product Ownership.

We are looking for:

  • 2+ years' experience in manual software testing and use of various techniques
  • Jira or other project/test management/defect tracking tools
  • Website/Mobile/device testing
  • ISTQB/ISEB Software Testing qualification
  • Ability to produce test documentation
  • Experience evaluating requirements & specifications

Desirable knowledge/experience:

  • Experience working in Agile teams
  • Knowledge of technical/coding infrastructure, tools and technologies
  • Experience using test tools and automation software
  • Experience liaising with clients
  • Product Ownership experience
  • Requirement gathering and documentation
  • Identifying functional needs
  • UX/UI/User understanding

  • Please note that this role requires you to be in our central Bristol office for at least 50% of your contracted hours.

What will you be doing?

You will be working as part of a team building high quality software for a diverse array of customers. This could range from a web-based HR solution to a system for synchronising prices across hundreds of vet practices. The nature of our work is that no two projects are the same, but you can find some of the things we have worked on here:

Our teams will generally have a Project Manager, a Business Analyst/Product Owner, a Technical Lead, and a few full-stack developers. You’ll also be working with clients and their UAT function to ensure successful deliveries.

We run our projects in an Agile fashion with sprints and other associated ceremonies. We are always open to ways of improving and welcome suggestions for ways to do things better from everyone in the team. Our ultimate aim is to have a happy team delivering a great solution to a happy customer.

Your main duties will be:

  • Analysing and understanding requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Writing & executing test plans
  • Documenting and reporting defects and unexpected results
  • Verifying defect fixes
  • Liaising with software developers, project managers, user acceptance testers and clients
  • Building and maintaining a deep understanding various software products, domains/industries, and end-users with technical insight
  • Providing updates and reports for teams/Project Managers and supporting the Head of QA
  • Demonstrating/handing-over software to and supporting UAT testers/Customers
